Fleets is a new format launched by Twitter that allows users to post ephemeral content on this social network.
Fleets disappear after 24 hours, just like Stories . Fleets will appear at the top of the app , just like Stories on other networks. Unlike regular tweets, Fleets don't appear in Search or Moments, and can't be liked or retweeted. They also cannot receive responses publicly, although we can interact with them through private messages and emojis. In short, it is a format individual email list with a more limited visibility and scope than other publications on this network. What-is-fleets-of-Twitter Fleets offer similar functionality to Stories on other networks, as they can be used to post text, GIFs, images, and videos up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds in length (limited to 512 MB). However, the interface is "cleaner" and offers fewer content customization options than other Stories, which fits in with the general style of Twitter .
Another peculiarity of Fleets is the navigation system . Normally, we are used to scrolling horizontally through the Stories published by a user in the last 24 hours, but in the Fleet this action is done by sliding down. Instead, to go to the Fleet of the next user, we do swipe to the left. One of the challenges with Fleets is deciding which of these stories will be displayed on the users' home screen. On Twitter it is common to follow a large number of accounts, so it is necessary to have a good filter that makes this content interesting for users. For now, the selection is made based on mutual followers and recent interactions. One possibility for the future is to enable a " Best Friends " feature, similar to the one that already exists on Instagram. Initially, Fleets has been launched in several countries such as Brazil, India or South Korea as a test. In November 2020, Twitter announced that it would become available globally through its iOS and Android apps. Currently, we do not know when (if at all) it will arrive on the web.
